Ewing, NJ – Stockton University (15-3, 9-2 NJAC) edged The College of New Jersey (9-9, 5-6) 54-53 on a free throw by Sasha Williams (Cherry Hill/CH West) with 1.5 seconds left in overtime. The win was the 13th in a row for the Ospreys, a streak that began following a setback to TCNJ back on December 2.

Williams led the Ospreys with a career-high 22 points and a game-high 11 rebounds for her 11th double-double in 18 games this season. Lea Mendolla (Nutley/Mount St. Dominic) shot a torrid 5-6 from three-point range and finished with 19 points. Only five Stockton players scored in the game as Williams and Mendolla carried the offense by combining for 41 of the team's 54 points.

A layup by Williams with 4:48 remaining gave the Ospreys their first lead since the opening minutes at 44-42. Another Williams layup with 1:42 on the clock put Stockton ahead 48-46 but Angelica Esposito hit two free throws at the 29-second mark to tie the game. The Ospreys had two opportunities to win it in the final seconds of regulation but a missed jumper and blocked layup forced overtime.

The Ospreys trailed 53-50 before scoring the last five points of the game. A clutch three-pointer by Mendolla with 1:21 left tied the game at 53. A TCNJ turnover with 46 seconds to play followed by a foul at the 29-second mark gave Stockton the chance to play for the last shot. Williams was fouled on a jumper with 1.5 ticks on the board and sank the second of two free throws to lift the Ospreys to their 13th straight win, 54-53.

Stockton struggled offensively throughout the game, finishing with its third-lowest point total of the season. The Ospreys trailed 24-18 at the half and the deficit grew to nine points early in the third quarter. Williams tossed in seven points as Stockton outscored TCNJ 14-8 in the fourth quarter to force overtime. The Ospreys never led in OT until Williams' game-winning free throw with 1.5 seconds left.

Stockton returns home to play its third game in six days when the Ospreys host William Paterson in an NJAC matchup on Saturday at 3 p.m.
