Sayer Nets Game-High 16 Points in Setback v. Knights

Canton, NY – Brianna Sayer (Hermon, NY) scored a game-high 16 points but turnovers proved costly as the SUNY Canton women's basketball team fell 73-43 to visiting Clarkson University on Friday evening.

Clarkson jumped out to a quick 25-8 lead after the opening quarter as the Golden Knights (12-4) turned defense into offense. The Roos (4-11) turned the ball over 26 times in the first half leading to a 27-6 advantage in points off turnovers and the Golden Knights controlled the paint scoring, 20-4.

Eleven different players saw action for Clarkson in the first half paced by 11 points from Ashley Loggins. Sayer led nine SUNY Canton players with six points.


Both teams' reserves received plenty of minutes in the second half as 23 different players saw action during the contest. The Roos cut down on the turnovers after halftime hanging with Clarkson in both the third and fourth quarters.


Sayer led all players with 16 points and added five rebounds but committed 11 costly turnovers. Tatiana Laroche(Elmont, NY) added nine points and seven rebounds, while Caselynn Fulton (Saint Cloud, MN) hauled down a game-high 11 rebounds.

Loggins led four players in double figures for the Knights finishing with 13 points in just 12 minutes. Raeanna Dunn (12), Devin Sorell (10) and Kathleen Coloney (10) also post double digit points for Clarkson.
