RIVER FOREST, Ill. - The Benedictine University women's basketball team scored 23 points in the second quarter to best Dominican University on the road, breaking a three-game slide.

THE DETAILS
Venita Parsons opened the scoring with a three-pointer before Dominican ripped off eight straight to take the lead
Dominican led the remainder of the first quarter, holding a 16-12 lead after the first 10 minutes
Payton Sims ignited a 12-1 run with a jumper at the 7:49 mark and Nicole Botich made the score 24-19 with 3:55 left in the first half
The run extended to 18-2 as Raven Willis scored on a layup with 1:59 left in the half, making the score 30-20
Sims hit a three-pointer just before the halftime buzzer to push the lead to 12 at 35-23
Botich kicked off a 13-0 run in the middle of the third quarter which put Benedictine in front 52-30 after two free throws from Jasma Williams with 2:20 remaining
Dominican could pull no closer than 16 points the rest of the way at 57-41 and a Tayler Walker three-pointer with 2:54 left saw Benedictine open a 70-44 edge before Dominican closed the game on an 8-0 run

"We did a great job executing on both ends of the floor tonight," head coach Charlie Averkamp said. "We attacked the offensive glass relentlessly and down the stretch of the season rebounding will be key to our success."

STAT LEADERS
Botich paced Benedictine with 15 points and 10 rebounds, her fourth double-double of the season
Briana Hamilton and Parsons also reached double digits with 10 apiece
Benedictine held a 46-31 advantage on the glass with 18 offensive rebounds and shot 40.6 percent from the floor in the contest
Benedictine scored 34 points in the paint, tallied 27 off Dominican turnovers and received 29 points from the bench
