William Paterson Women’s Basketball Defeats New Jersey City, 60-47

WAYNE, N.J. – Senior forward Alex Milne (Howell, N.J./Howell) scored a game-high 18 points as William Paterson (11-7, 7-4 NJAC) secured a 60-47 women's basketball victory against visiting New Jersey City (1-16, 0-11 NJAC) Jan. 27.

 

The Pioneers shot 40.6 (13-32) percent from the floor on their way to a 33-19 halftime lead, as Milne led all first-half scorers with nine points. WP's advantage grew to as many as 22 (52-30) late in the third quarter, and the Pioneers used a 27-17 edge in points off turnovers to help put away the win.

 

Milne was 8-for-11 (.727) from the field, pulling down seven rebounds and collecting a career-best five steals. Junior guard Nikole Williams (Valley Stream, N.Y./Valley Stream Central) notched a new career high with 13 tallies, while sophomore forward Tori Woetzel (Wyckoff, N.J./Ramapo) had seven points and five boards. Senior guard Brittany Harden (Millville, N.J./Sacred Heart) added eight caroms and four assists.

 

Sophomore forward/center Sharaunda Fiedtkou paced the Gothic Knights with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Senior guard/forward Deseree Johnson chipped in 13 tallies and eight boards.

 

William Paterson will visit Stockton Saturday, Jan. 30, at 3:00 p.m.
