POTSDAM, N.Y. – The College at Brockport Women's Basketball team defeated Potsdam in a lopsided contest in which all the Golden Eagles contributed in securing a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) victory by a margin of 73-47 at the Bears home in Potsdam.

Brockport (9-6 Overall, 5-3 SUNYAC) took advantage of opportunities it had at the free throw line converting 17-of-21 while minimizing Potsdam's chances at the charity stripe to only four attempts. The Golden Eagles also outworked the Bears on the glass to the tune of 43 rebounds compared to Potsdam's 29.

After nearly three minutes of neutrality, Brockport took the first lead of the game on a layup from Olivia Suhr set up by Hannah Spencer's pass. The Bears quickly answered back with a made jumper to knot things back up at 2-all but Hannah Rehbaum's layup and one free throw put Brockport up by three.

Another in the paint bucket from Suhr set up by Spencer pushed Brockport ahead 7-2. However the Bears scored the next six points to take their only lead of the game at 8-7.

Suhr used her height to her advantage and put Brockport back ahead on its next possession on a pass from Faith Welch. On the Golden Eagles next possession Welch found Schyler Laux in the corner inside the arc for a midrange jumper that put Brockport up 11-8 with 3:36 remaining in the first quarter.

Welch took over late in the first quarter finishing two steals with fast break layups, even getting fouled once in the process. She also assisted on a three-pointer from Jenna Lividini on an inbounds pass. She found Lividini wide open on the wing, giving the freshman guard a wide open look that she has repetitively hit all year.

Brockport and Potsdam kept things pretty neutral for about the first five minutes of the second quarter but the Golden Eagles took off while shutting down the Bears offense. With 5:33 seconds left in the second Potsdam scored its final bucket to pull within 10 points.

In that 5:33 span Brockport went to the line a total of ten times. Spencer started the free throw parade, making her two as well as a jump shot before Laux made two, followed by one from Rossier and another by Laux. Welch closed out the half with two converted free throws giving Brockport a 44-20 lead.

The Golden Eagles expanded their lead early on in the third quarter behind freshmen guards Spencer and Laux. Spencer scored five points to Laux's two pushing Brockport ahead by 31.

Brockport changed its lineup heading into the fourth quarter. Marissa Pike led things off with a steal and fast break basket while getting fouled. She converted the three point play only to follow it with another three points, this time from beyond the arc on a dish from Alyssa Rusinko.

Senior guard Lisa Yacavoni joined the fun with a layup of her own before freshman forward Alyssa Wagner finished out Brockport's scoring with two free throws and a made jumper.

Suhr led the team with 19 points while Spencer chipped in 13, including an impressive six-of-six from the free throw line to improve her already impressive percentage to .875. Welch led the team with seven rebounds and three steals.
