Bulldogs Win Fifth in a Row at St. Joe's Brooklyn, 55-45

Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn women's basketball team prevailed this afternoon in the non-conference 'Battle of Brooklyn', defeating St. Joseph's Brooklyn 55-45.  It is the Bulldogs' fifth win in a row.  BC improves to 12-4 overall with the victory.  St. Joe's drops to 5-12 with the loss.  The Bulldogs will be back on the court at home on Wednesday, January 20, to host CCNY in a CUNYAC doubleheader.  Tip-off is set for 5:00 PM followed by the men's game at 7:15 PM.

With the game played evenly through the first quarter, the Bulldogs would take a 23-14 halftime lead.  The Bulldogs would only allow St. Joe's to score four points in the second period.  Junior guard, Taylor Gallagher, sparked BC's run in the second, scoring seven of her team-high eleven points.  

The home did stand their ground, opening the second half with a 16-4 run to take a 30-27 lead with 3:45 remaining in the third period.  However, the Bulldogs would respond with a 10-2 run of their own to take a 38-31 lead heading into the final period. 

BC would weather any storm the Bears would try to create in the fourth period.  Junior guardTwanda Holder hit three of four free throw attempts in the final twenty seconds of the ballgame to seal the deal for Brooklyn. 

Junior forward added another double-double to her resume, scoring ten points and grabbing a game-high 18 rebounds.  Holder and fellow junior guard Justine Vento each scored eight points.  Freshman guard Alexandra Moogan continues her production off of the bench, scoring eight points on the afternoon. 

Brooklyn out-rebounded the Bears 58-42 on the day.
