 Shooting a season-high 42 percent from three-point range, the North Central College women's basketball team used a 32-point second quarter to roll past Augustana College, 98-75 on Wednesday evening.
 
North Central (8-7, 2-2 CCIW) finished the contest 16-of-68 from beyond the arch, including a 11-for-22 showing in the first half.  The Cardinals also shot a season-high 80 percent from the free throw line, connecting on 13-of-16 attempts.
 
Augustana (6-9, 1-3 CCIW) opened the game on a 11-5 run, proving to be its largest lead of the contest, as back-to-back three-pointers from Miranda Grizaffi and Jamie Cuny knotted the score 11-11.  The two teams proceeded to trade the lead a few time over the next five minutes, before a lay-up and three-pointer from Caroline Heimerdinger with under a minute to play in the quarter gave the Cardinals a 24-21 lead after the opening 10 minutes.
 
Holding a 32-27 lead with 7:45 to play before halftime, North Central went on the game's pivotal run, a 17-2 rally over the next five minutes to take a commanding 49-29 advantage.  Aaliyah Johnson started the run with a put-back lay-in, while Michaela Reedy added eight points during the run, including a pair from beyond the arch.
 
North Central opened up its largest lead of the contest early in the third quarter, as one of Cuny's three long balls gave the Cardinals a 61-39 lead at the 8:12 mark, as the Cardinals held a double-digit lead the remainder of the contest.
 
Six Cardinals scored in double-figures, led by Cuny's 19 points, 10 rebounds and five blocks.  Mayson Whipple finished with 16 points on a career-best 10-of-11 shooting from the free throw line, to go along with a six rebounds and a game-high eight assists.
 
Grizaffi added 12 points on 4-of-7 shooting from three-point range, while Reedy and Heimerdinger each finished with 11 and Anita Sterling added 10 points off the bench while adding a pair of blocked shots.
 
Corrie Reiley led the Viking offense with 19 points on 6-of-13 shooting from the field, while Marissa Pezzopane added 16 points and six rebounds off the bench.
