Cortland led 24-20 after Danielle Levine (Holbrook/Sachem North) hit a 3-pointer with 3:20 left in the first half, but Geneseo scored the final eight points of the half on a Cohan 3-pointer, a Kara Houppert layup, and three Cohan free throws when she was fouled attempting a trey at the first-half buzzer.

The Knights extended their lead to as many as 11 points in the third quarter on two occasions, the last at 44-33 with 3:29 left, but the Red Dragons scored finished the period on a 7-0 run and trailed 44-40 entering the fourth. Geneseo pushed the lead back to nine less than two minutes into the last period, but Cortland chipped away and eventually got to within one on two Chapko foul shots with 4:46 left.

A Vienneau jumper at the 2:38 mark and a Houppert free throw with 2:20 left gave Geneseo a 56-52 lead. Cohen made a layup with 1:55 left to cut the deficit to two, then after a Knights' miss the Red Draogns pushed up the floor and Cohen buried a 3-pointer from the right side to give Cortland a 57-56 advantage.

Neither team scored again. Geneseo turned the ball over with a minute left, but Cortland missed a shot with 30 seconds remaining. The Red Dragons forced a turnover with nine seconds remaining, but were quickly tied up and the possession arrow favored Geneseo. Following a timeout, the Knights had a 3-point attempt from the left corner partially blocked by Deuel. The ball missed the rim and was rebounded by Taylor Miller (Freeport), and Cortland was able to run out the clock.

Cortland will host Potsdam Friday at 5:30 p.m. and Plattsburgh Saturday at 2 p.m.
