Foreman’s Career-Highs Pace Hawks Over Utica 62-53

            UTICA, NY – Jacqui Foreman (Tolland, CT/Tolland) was virtually unstoppable on Tuesday night as Hartwick's women's basketball team scored a 62-53 victory over Utica College at Clark Gymnasium. Foreman recorded a double-double with career- and game-highs of 22 points and 17 rebounds in the game. She shot 11-of-16 from the floor and accounted for more than half of the Hawks' rebounds on the night. She also dished out four assists.
            With the victory, Hartwick improves to 4-7 overall and 2-1 in the Empire 8 Conference. Utica slips to 6-6 and 1-2 in league play.
            The score was tied for the seventh and final time at 49-all with 3:26 left in the game. An Emily Stone (Granby, CT/Granby Memorial) layup 12 seconds later would trigger a 13-4 run to close the game for the Hawks in the victory. 'Wick would go 9-for-12 from the free-throw line down the stretch.
            Caitlin Corbett (Altamont, NY/Guilderland) would score a College-high 14 points to go along with four assists for the Hawks. Stone also had 11 points with three assists and two steals. Carly Johnson (Greenville, NY/Greenville Central) had a College-best 11 points and a pair of three-pointers.
            Foreman and Corbett combined to score 10 of 'Wick's first 12 points as the Blue and White jumped out to a 12-2 lead 5:20 into the contest. Utica would close the quarter on a 12-2 run of its own to tie the score after 10 minutes, 14-14.
            The Pioneers opened the second quarter with the first seven points to grab a 21-14 advantage. The Hawks would trim their deficit to one point twice in the quarter, but UC led 31-27 at halftime.
            Utica would lead most of the way through the third quarter. The Hawks would even the score three times, including just before the third-quarter buzzer on a Stone three-pointers for a 42-42 tie game.
            The Hawks would never trail in the fourth period. The Pioneers would tie it twice before Stone put 'Wick up to stay with 3:14 left.
            Hartwick made 44% from the floor as a team. The Hawks limited Utica to 36% shooting. The Pioneers out-rebounded the visitors 36-32.
            Mary Miceli led the Pioneer offense with 16 points. Ashley Mayo scored 14 points and pulled down nine rebounds.
            The Hawks next play on Friday night when they host Alfred University at Lambros Arena beginning at 8 p.m.
