MILWAUKEE -- Alverno College suffered its second straight setback as the Inferno lost to visiting Concordia University Wisconsin, 77-62, Saturday night in Reiman Gymnasium.
The Falcons outrebounded Alverno, 50-23, and had an 18-2 advantage on second-chance points.
The Inferno (6-8, 3-6 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference) led 17-16 after the first quarter, but Concordia Wisconsin (9-3, 6-2 NACC) outscored the host team 22-16 in the second and remained in front the rest of the way.
Alverno pulled within two, 55-53, two minutes into the fourth quarter, yet CUW responded with the next five points and pulled away over the remainder of the final period.
Gabby Hood and Brooke McBain tied for team-high honors with 11 points apiece, while Donna Zehner added 10 for the Inferno.
Madelyn Landgraf led CUW with a game-high 15 points on 5-of-13 shooting.
Alverno returns to the hardwood Wednesday at Rockford University for a 7 p.m. tipoff.
