Del Rosario, Walker lead Lehman past Staten Island, 76-69

STATEN ISLAND, NY --- Junior Amely Del Rosario scored 22 points while senior Karrin Walker posted 21 as the Lehman College women's basketball team won at the College of Staten Island, 76-69 on Saturday afternoon at the Sports & Recreation Center in Staten Island. With the victory, the Lightning of Lehman (9-5, 4-1 CUNYAC) maintain control of second place in the CUNY Athletic Conference standings, holding off the Dolphins of Staten Island (8-6, 4-2 CUNYAC).

Lehman, down by as much as nine early on and facing a two-point deficit entering the fourth period, outscored CSI 22-13 in the final frame, using a 12-0 run to surpass the hosts, a stretch capped off with a layup from Del Rosario with 3:12 remaining to put the Lightning up for good. It was Del Rosario's eighth game of the season to exceed 20 points in the scoring column. Del Rosario also pulled down seven rebounds while dishing out six assists. Walker finished with her third double-double in four games, collecting 11 boards on the day. Senior Yarmese Jones had a team and season-high 12 rebounds with seven points. Senior Amani Lightbourne contributed 12 points with eight rebounds while senior Jennifer Navarro added 11. 

Lehman outshot CSI, 40.3 percent against 29.6 percent on the day.

Staten Island sophomore Christina Pasaturo led the Dolphins with 20 points, 12 rebounds and a game-high eight assists with four steals.    

At press time, Del Rosario was ranked first in the conference in scoring at 20.5 points-per-game, while Navarro is in second place at 20.1.

Lehman will be back on the court on Wednesday when they travel to Baruch College to face the top-ranked Bearcats in a 5:30 p.m. game.
