No. 5 Hope Women's Basketball Tops Saint Mary's 93-53 On The Road

Mandy Traversa's first-half 3-point shooting paved the way for another win for the unbeaten and nationally ranked Hope College women's basketball team.

The junior forward from Winfield, Illinois (Wheaton North HS) buried all of her season-high five 3-pointers before halftime of the Flying Dutch's 93-53 win at Saint Mary's on Wednesday.

Traversa totaled all 15 of her points to help stake Hope to a 45-24 halftime lead.

The Flying Dutch improved to 13-0 overall and 5-0 in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play.

Hope also received a season-high 24 points from senior forward Maura McAfee of Midland, Michigan (Midland HS). She had 14 points alone in the third quarter.

McAfee grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds for her sixth double-double of the season.

Sophomore guard Allie Gorcyca of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan (Mercy HS) chipped in a career-high 12 points off the bench.

Sophomore guard Madison Geers of Scottville, Michigan (Mason Country Central HS) set career highs with nine rebounds and five assists to go along with nine points.

Junior guard Angelique Gaddy of Caledonia, Michigan (Grand Rapids South Christian HS) dished out a career-high nine assists.

Hope is ranked fourth in this week's Women's Basketball Coaches Association NCAA Division III poll and fifth in the D3Hoops.com rankings.

The Flying Dutch have a bye this Saturday and return to action on Wednesday, Jan. 13 at Albion.
