Jamaica, NY---In his 14th season at the helm of the Brooklyn College women's basketball program, Head Coach, Alex Lang picked up his 200th career win this evening in the Bulldogs' 70-47 conference victory at York. The Bulldogs improve to 9-4 overall on the season, remain undefeated at 6-0 in the CUNYAC, and still sit in the top spot in the conference standings. York falls to 2-10 overall and 1-4 against conference opponents. The Bulldogs will return home on Friday January 8th to host conference foe Baruch in a CUNYAC doubleheader. The women will tip-off at 5:00 PM followed by the men at 7:15 PM.
Junior guard Justine Vento scored a game-high 18 points on 6-10 from beyond the arc. The Bulldogs shot just over 40% from the field for the game.
The Bulldogs continued their stingy defensive play, limiting the Cardinals to 14-61 from the field (23%) for the game.
Trailing 16-11 in the first minute of the second period, the Bulldogs would go on a 16-2 run to take a 29-18 lead with 2:45 left in the first half. Vento pace the Bulldogs during that stretch, hitting two three-pointers. She would knock down her ithird of the period just before halftime, giving BC the 32-23 lead.
The Bulldogs created even more separation from the Cardinals in the third period, taking a 20-point lead heading into the fourth period. They would maintain a comfortable lead for the remainder of the contest.
Junior forward Olivia Colbert scored 15 points and grabbed six rebounds in the winning effort. Junior guard Taylor Gallagher and freshman guard Ema Somers each added eleven points. Gallagher also dished out seven assists on the evening.
