SCHENECTADY, NY -- Sophomore Jenni Barra scored a team high 14 points and freshman Amy Haven added a career high 10 off the bench as the Union College women's basketball team improved to 2-0 in the Liberty League with a 55-37 home win over Bard College at the Viniar Athletic Center Sunday. The Dutchwomen are now 7-2 overall while the Raptors are 5-6 overall and 0-2 in the league.

Union held an opponent under 40 points for the third time this season. Erin Lyons had a team best nine rebounds and Union got seven boards each from Abby Katz and Natalie Leone. Leone and Amy Fisher each had seven points for Union, which forced 17 turnovers and shot 38% while making 88% of the free throws (Union was only at the line eight times, making seven). The Dutchwomen outrebounded the Raptors, 45-43.

Bard was led by Tytravia Riley, who had a double-double for the night. She tied Barra with 14 points and had a game high 12 rebounds. Sarah Morris scored nine points with seven rebounds and Alexis Akingbade also pulled down seven rebounds for the Raptors, who were held to 21% shooting by the Union defensive effort.

Bard had a 14-9 lead after the first quarter but Union outscored the Raptors, 19-5 in the second to take a 28-19 lead into the half. Union was up by 11 after a Lyons jumper 30 second into the half to make it 30-19, but Bard pulled to with five on a Sarah Morris three with 3:10 left. The Dutchwomen opened it up again for a 39-29 lead after three. Bard was no closer then 13 in the fourth and Union led by 18 with 1:59 left and again with 38 seconds left when Nicole Conley's basket provided the eventual 55-37 final.

Union continues a four game homestand next week, hosting local league rivals RPI Friday (6 p.m.) and Skidmore Saturday (2 p.m.).
