DE PERE, Wis. – Lauren Anklam (Ringle, WI/D.C. Everest) scored a career-high 27 points as the UW-Stevens Point women's basketball team won its third game in four days with a 67-62 win at St. Norbert on Saturday evening at Schuldes Sports Center.

Anklam was 7-for-12 from the field, 3-for-4 from behind the arc and 10-for-12 from the free-throw line in her highest-scoring game at UW-Stevens Point (9-2). Her 27 points were the most by a UWSP player since Liz Althoff scored 28 in a win over Concordia-Moorhead on March 1, 2013, a span of 65 games.
The win over St. Norbert (7-4) extends the Pointers' best start to a season since 2011-12, when UWSP started 10-0.
UW-Stevens Point led 60-49 with 1:28 remaining in the fourth quarter but needed to survive a late fightback from St. Norbert. The Green Knights climbed to within 64-62 with 22 seconds remaining after back-to-back three-pointers by Regan Carmichael in a 10-second span.
After a Lexi Roland (New London, WI/New London) free throw gave the Pointers a three-point lead, UW-Stevens Point got a stop and Allie Miceli (Marseilles, IL/Ottawa Township) hit a pair of free throws to give the Pointers a 67-62 lead with 10 seconds to go, sealing the win.
In addition to Anklam's career night, Miceli registered 11 points and eight rebounds for UW-Stevens Point, which shot 44.7 percent from the field. The senior was a perfect 7-for-7 from the free-throw line, as the Pointers outscored the Green Knights 22-6 from the charity stripe. St. Norbert was just 6-for-16 (37.5 percent) at the line in the game.
The Green Knights got off to a 15-2 lead late in the first quarter after the Pointers committed eight turnovers in the first seven-plus minutes of the game. UW-Stevens Point trailed by eight, 15-7, after the first quarter but fought back to take its first lead of the game at 21-20 with 3:01 remaining in the second quarter on an Anklam three.
After Anklam's three-pointer, the Pointers led for the final 23:01 of the game. UW-Stevens Point led 27-24 at halftime but stretched its lead to 11 by scoring the first eight points of the third quarter. Miceli started the half with a three-point play and Anklam followed with a three-pointer give the Pointers their largest lead of the game.
St. Norbert got within 37-33 with 2:52 to go in the third quarter after a quick 5-0 run and trailed by just five entering the fourth quarter. The Green Knights were down just two, 49-47, with 5:06 to go in regulation before the Pointers scored six consecutive points, including back-to-back buckets by Erin Crownover (Menomonee Falls, WI/Menomonee Falls), prior to the late St. Norbert rally.
UW-Stevens Point held St. Norbert to 36.8 percent shooting in the game, although the Green Knights shot 42.9 percent in the second half. Carmichael led St. Norbert with 19 points on 7-for-15 from the field, including 5-for-9 from behind the arc.
The Pointers outrebounded the Green Knights 46-36 in the game to offset 17 turnovers. Payton Mix (New London, WI/New London) grabbed six rebounds off the UWSP bench.
UW-Stevens Point opens Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) play against UW-Eau Claire on Wednesday, Jan. 6 at 7 p.m. at Berg Gym.
