(BLOOMINGTON, Ill.) – The top-ranked Thomas More College women's basketball shot 62.3 percent from the field today (Wednesday, December 30, 2015) as it defeated Illinois Wesleyan University, 92-69, on Dennie Bridges Court in the Shirk Center in Bloomington, Illinois.

With the win, the Saints remain undefeated at 9-0.  With the loss, the Titans fall to 5-6.

Illinois Wesleyan took an early 20-14 lead when Nina Anderson made a jumper with 3:04 to play in the first quarter.  The Saints answered with a 9-0 run to take a 23-20 lead with 1:02 to play in the first quarter when senior guard/forward Sydney Moss (St. Albans, W.Va./Boone County (Ky.)) made two free-throws. The Titans' Gabrielle Holness made a three-pointer with 54-seconds to play in the quarter to tie the game at 23-23 after one quarter.  Thomas More opened the second quarter on a 16-111 run to take a 39-34 lead on a Moss three-pointer with 3:50 to play in the quarter.  Illinois Wesleyan closed out the half on a 5-2 run to cut the lead to 41-39 at halftime.

Thomas More out-scored the Titans 27-10 in the third quarter and 24-20 in the third quarter to cruise to the 92-69 victory.

Moss led the team in scoring with 37 points as she made 13 field goals, including a school single-game record of nine three-pointers and two free-throws.  She was joined in double-figure scoring by sophomore forward Nikki Kiernan (Cold Springs, Ky./Newport Central Catholic) with 26 points and junior forward Kirsten Paul (Cincinnati, Ohio/Cincinnati Christian) with 10 points.  Moss had her second-straight double-double with a game-high 11 rebounds.  Moss and sophomore guard Abby Owings (Independence, Ky./Simon Kenton) led the team in assists with seven each, while Kiernan led the team in blocks with three.

Thomas More returns to action on January 2, 2016 when it travels to Greenville, Pennsylvania to play Thiel College at 1 p.m.
