The College of Staten Island women's basketball squad forced 37 John Jay College turnovers and held the Bloodhounds to just 25.4% shooting, to take a lop-sided, 78-43, winner over John Jay in conference play in Manhattan this evening.  CSI improved to 5-3 overall and 3-0 in conference play, winning their fourth straight, while the Bloodhounds dipped to 2-6, 0-4, respectively.

John Jay started by sinking the opening bucket of the game, but CSI took control from there, going on a 13-2 run.  Samantha Flecker canned two jumpers in the run and Christina Pasaturo sealed it with a three.  The run was a microcosm for the rest of the game, as John Jay shot just 1-for-11 over the next eight minutes of the quarter, to go with a heavy seven turnovers.  Still, a spurt by the home squad in the final stages cut CSI's lead to just 15-10 at the end of the first stanza.

An immediate 6-0 run to start the second quarter proved helpful for the Dolphins, as Jamie Pifalo gave the Dolphins their first double digit lead, 21-10, at 7:55.  The Bloodhounds hit a cold spell again, and did not hit a field goal for the final 6:27 of the half, as CSI rolled to a 13-4 run to close the frame.  Pasaturo connected on another couple of baskets and Nicole Vierno powered inside for a big bucket, expanding CSI's lead to 36-21 at the half.

The Dolphins then put the game on ice by rolling to an 11-0 spurt to start the second half.  Pasaturo again made two connections, one from three, while Alyssa Carlsen poked in with a lay-up.  That put CSI up by 26, 47-21, with 7:47 to go in the third quarter.  A 10-0 run in the fourth gave CSI their biggest lead, 69-35, later in the game, as both teams went to their benches for reserves.

Pasaturo finished with a game-high 19 points for CSI to go with seven assists.  Flecker poured in 17 with 10 rebounds, while Vierno hit double-figures with 10 points and four assists.  JJC's Josephine Diaz led the Bloodhounds with 12 points, while Shailya Ruiz finalized with seven points and 11 rebounds.  CSI was a plus-19 in the turnover column, which led to 20 more shots taken.  CSI shot 41.8% from the floor, while the Bloodhounds connected on just 15-of-59 shots.

?CSI will be back in action on Saturday, when they host Keystone College at the Sports & Recreation Center, at 6pm.
