BRUNSWICK, Maine – University of Maine at Farmington women's basketball (3-5) senior Meghan Smith (Boothbay, Maine/Boothbay Region) recorded her fifth double-double of the season on Wednesday night in a 79-38 loss at Bowdoin College (5-2) in non-conference action.
Smith set a team-high with 13 points on 5-of-8 shooting and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead the squad. Wednesday's outing marked Smith's fourth double-double in the last five games. Cheyenne Malloy (Skowhegan, Maine/Skowhegan) added seven points for the Beavers and Kennadi Grover (Cushing, Maine/Oceanside) contributed six points and four rebounds.
Bowdoin's Shannon Brady scored a game-high 17 points and seven rebounds, including four rebounds on the offensive glass. Brady shot 8-of-14 from the floor and also tallied two blocks, one assist, and one steal. Lauren Petit had a solid night with 14 points, six steals, and four rebounds in 14 minutes off the bench for the Polar Bears.
UMaine-Farmington returns to action after the holiday break on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 and hosts conference rival Thomas College.
