LISLE, Ill. - The Benedictine University women's basketball team scored 30 points in the third quarter to break open a tie contest and win a seventh straight by a 74-53 score over Rockford University at home.

The first half saw a ton of back-and-forth with neither team leading by more than four points
Benedictine held leads of 4-0 on a steal and basket from Alanna Ferry, 8-4 on a Nicole Botich layup, and 22-18 on a free throw from Botich
Rockford came back each time and led in the final minute of the half before a Botich free throw evened the score at 29-29
The third quarter belonged to Benedictine as an 11-0 run with the game even at 31 handed Benedictine a double-digit edge
Briana Hamilton finished off the stretch with a second-chance bucket, making the score 42-31 with 6:45 to play in the quarter
The advantage would stretch to 18 following a three-point play from Ferry with 3:43 remaining
Benedictine outscored Rockford 30-12 in the third
Botich extended the margin to 24 points at 65-41 with a layup with 7:44 to go and Rockford could pull no closer than 16 the rest of the way
The contest featured 10 ties and six lead changes

"I give Rockford a lot of credit," head coach Charlie Averkamp said. "They hit shots early, and we didn't match their intensity. We came out with a lot of energy in the second half and were able to rebound and pound the ball inside."

Two players picked up double-doubles for Benedictine as Botich scored 14 and grabbed a career high 16 rebounds
DeKayla Crayton came off the bench to finish with a season high 16 points and 10 rebounds

Ferry matched Crayton to lead the team with 16 points, adding nine assists, her fifth game of the season with six or more assists and third straight
