Ravens Modest Win Streak Halted by Cavaliers

ROSEMONT – The visiting Cabrini College Cavaliers (2-4, 2-0 CSAC) ran out to a 34-18 advantage at the half and fended off the Rosemont women's basketball team (2-4, 1-1 CSAC) in Alumnae Hall, taking the 67-49 decision. The loss for the Ravens ended their modest two-game winning streak, as the Cavaliers won their second straight game.

The Ravens got off to a slow start, shooting only 24% from the field in the first half, leading to the deficit that they had to overcome. Rosemont did shoot better in the second half, 41.4% from the field, and outscored Cabrini 17-13 in the third quarter, but Cabrini extended their 3rd quarter 12-point lead by winning the 4thquarter, 20-14.

Ayanna Thompson was the top-scorer for Rosemont, scoring 12 points. Brianna Macauley also scored double-figures with 11. Leilani Naone-Carter played a solid game, shooting 4-for-7 from the field and scoring eight points to go with her 10 rebounds.

Cabrini's Meghan Martin was tough to defend this afternoon, shooting 11-for-17 from the field (2-for-5 from beyond the arc), scoring a total of 26 points. No other Cavalier reached double-digits today. Martin was also a factor in the paint, grabbing seven rebounds. Sabrina Hackendorn led the Cavaliers with eight boards.

The women return to Alumnae Hall on Thursday, 12/10 to face the Swarthmore Garnet in a non-conference game. The game is scheduled for a 7:00 start.
