Matsumoto, Tigers Win Third in a Row

LOS ANGELES — Erin Matsumoto scored 15 points and grabbed eight rebounds and Mackenzie Bretz added 10 points and seven boards, leading the Occidental women's basketball team past Bristol 63-40 at Rush Gymnasium on Tuesday.

Season Impact: After losing their first four games of the season, including two one-point losses and a two-point loss, the Tigers have won their last three games by wide margins, improving their record to 3-4 overall.

Bristol falls to 0-3.

Matsumoto, Oxy's best perimeter shooter, went 3 of 5 from downtown and was 6 of 12 from the field.

The game's result was never in doubt. Oxy pressed the Bears into 24 turnovers and capitalized in transition in the first half to open up a 32-15 lead by the break.

Kendahl Wallis-Lang scored eight points and fought her way into six rebounds off of the bench for Oxy. Triana Anderson added seven points and Grace Baronowski scored six in limited minutes.

Ashley Hernandez scored a team-high 13 points for Bristol.

Next Game: The Tigers are back in action on Thursday, facing La Sierra at 7:30 p.m. at Rush Gym.
