Rochester closed the pre-Thanksgiving portion of its women's basketball schedule with a 76-43 victory over Oswego State at the Louis Alexander Palestra on Tuesday evening.
The Yellowjackets (4-0) scored 21 second chance points off 14 offensive rebounds and converted 20 Oswego turnovers into 19 points. Rochester blocked six shots – four by Lauren Deming. She had three of the team's 12 steals. Kayla Kibling, Tylar Guerrieri, and Kelsey Hurley had one each.
Al Leslie led Rochester with 13 points and seven rebounds. She made five of six shots from the field and all three of her free throw attempts. Kibling scored 12 points, including a pair of three-point goals. Sarah Kaminsky had eight points as did Hurley. Deming and Jillian Silvestri scored seven points each. Guerrieri had six points and six rebounds.
Oswego (0-4) was led by Courtney Ameele with a game-high 14 points. Allie Izzo, Mary Mazzella, and Alison Nunziato scored five points apiece. Zana Dillard grabbed a game-high eight rebounds. Izzo collected seven boards. Ameele made three of Oswego's 10 steals.
Rochester opened the game with an 11-0 run – seven points from Leslie and four by Kaminsky. It was 14-1 before Ameele triggered 9-2 burst. She scored the first seven and Izzo finished it with a layup. That pulled the Lakes within 16-10.
Guerrieri drove for a layup, Mary Kronenwetter made two free throws, and Kibling sank a trey to the right of the key. Rochester led, 23-10, after one.
