COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- After opening the Colorado College Tipoff Classic with a win over the host Tigers Friday night, Alverno College dropped Saturday's contest to Howard Payne University, 71-37, inside Reid Arena.
The Yellow Jackets (1-2) forced the Inferno (2-2) into 25 turnovers which led directly to 29 points.
Alverno struggled shooting in the contest, as the team connected on less than 25 percent of its shots from the field and was just 1-of-17 from 3-point range.
Mollie Mikyska led the Inferno with 10 points on 5-of-8 shooting, Brooke McBain added six points and a team-high 10 rebounds, while Nikayla Ramsey dished out three assists.
Presley McKethan led the Yellow Jackets with 16 points, and Sarahi Castillo had a double-double with 10 points and a game-high 15 rebounds.
Alverno completes its current four-game road swing, and returns to Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference play, at Concordia University Chicago next Saturday at 2 p.m.
