Baruch Falls in NCAA 2nd Round to ECSU, Iyana Abrams Scores Career 1,000 Pts

The Baruch College Bearcats run in the 2015 NCAA Division III Tournament came to an end this evening with a 71-62 loss to Eastern Connecticut State University at the Long Center on the campus of the University of Scranton in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

The Bearcats (25-5) trailed 31-24 at halftime after shooting 34 percent (12-35) in the first half, but came out on fire in the second half with a 20-6 run in the opening six minutes to lead, 44-37.

ECSU (22-8) rallied to tie game at 48 and took over in the final four minutes with a 15-5 run, which included a perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line, to advance to the Sweet 16 next weekend.

The Bearcats attempted 21 more shots than ECSU, but their opponent shot better at 48 percent (24-48), compared to just 34 percent (28-69) by the Bearcats.

Iyana Abrams scored her 1,000th career point in the loss and finished with 12 points, five assists and three steals.

The team ends the 2014-15 season with a 25-5 record.
