The Warhawks sealed the win from the free-throw line. With the scoreboard showing 64-64 and 37 seconds on the clock, freshman Brooke Trewyn stole the ball from UW-Stout's Katelynne Folkers and was fouled immediately. Ruled an intentional foul, Trewyn knocked down both free-throws an UW-Whitewater maintained possession of the ball.

The inbounds pass went in to freshman forward Andrea Meinert who was fouled with 20 seconds left in the game. She hit both shots from the charity stripe to give the Warhawks a 68-64 lead. With eight seconds remaining, freshman guard Malia Smith made good on one of her two free-throws to bring the UW-Whitewater advantage to 69-64 and seal the Warhawk victory. 

The Blue Devils held an early lead until Trewyn's layup at the 13:31 mark in the first half knotted the score at 13. Just 15 seconds later, Trewyn picked Sarah Schoch's pocket and went the distance for the fastbreak layin to give UW-Whitewater its first lead 15-13. 

In the Warhawks' next possession, the announcer was calling Trewyn's name once again, this time for a three-ball that game UW-Whitewater an 18-13 lead with 12:27 on the clock. 

The teams traded small runs until junior shooting guard Abbie Reeves did exactly what her position calls for. With the Warhawks leading 25-24 and 2:58 remaining in the half, Reeves, the league's leading three-point shooter, added another three to her season tally off a pass from sophomore guard Reilly Stewart. Less than a minute later, Reeves knocked down a jumper from the right side of the lane. In the next possession, a Warhawk missed three-pointer was chased down in the corner by UW-Stout's Jenna Goldsmith but junior guard Maddie Bare was there for the takeaway. Bare outleted to Reeves behind the arc and a defensive breakdown gave Reeves a wide open look which she knocked down to extend the Warhawk lead to nine, 33-24. 

UW-Whitewater and Stout traded points to round out the half as the Warhawks went into the lockerroom with a 37-28 lead. 

The Warhawks' press caused havoc for the Blue Devil guards. UW-Whitewater forced 14 turnovers in the first 20 minutes and turned the miscues into 17 points. 

In the second half, UW-Stout chipped away at the margin and eventually regained the lead 46-45 with 10:37 left in the game. 

UW-Whitewater recaptured and held the lead all the way up to the 56 second mark. Folkers' layup gave the Blue Devils a 64-63 lead before Trewyn tied the game at 64-64 and the rest is, as they say, is history. 

Reeves led the Warhawks with 15 points on 3-for-4 from long range. Trewyn dropped in 14 points and Meinert led all players with 11 boards including five on the offensive glass. Stewart posted a game-high four assists and Bare registered a game-high three steals. 

Stout's Folkers led all players with 20 points including 18 in the second half.
