ATLANTA (Feb. 20, 2015) – Despite three players in double figures, the Sewanee women's basketball dropped a 62-53 road game at Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Oglethorpe inside Dorough Field House.

Early on Sewanee (12-11/4-9 SAA) played well. A jumper by Kayla Sewell on the Tigers' opening possession sparked an 8-3 Sewanee run over the first three minutes.

Over the next 15 minutes the score would become close. With OU leading 26-20, two free throws by Savannah Rose and a three by Hannah McCormack pulled the Tigers to within two points. The Tigers then pulled to within one with a free throw by Sewell.

Unfortunately, the Stormy Petrels closed the half on a 6-0 run.

OU kept the pressure on early in the second half. The Stormy Petrels outscored the Tigers 9-4 over the first six minutes. That allowed OU to lead by 12, 41-29.

The Tigers kept playing hard despite their deficit. Back-to-back threes by Kelley Myers and Rose pull Sewanee back to within six.

The Tigers would pull to within three with 6:36 to play after Sewell made an old fashion three-point play. After Sewanee forced an OU turnover, Jaime Chauvin then made a layup with 5:22 left.

Again OU answered back in a big way. The Stormy Petrels scored 10 of the next 12 points. That included two threes by McKenzie Fortson.

Overall, both teams struggled from the floor. Sewanee made 39.3 percent of its attempts while Oglethorpe made only 26.5 percent of its shots.

Sewanee played well inside outscoring the Stormy Petrels 30-12 in the paint.

Individually, Casey Hassett and Chauvin led the Tigers with 12 points. McCormack also added 10 points while Sewell pitched in 12 rebounds and nine points.

Behind four three pointers, Fortson led OU with a game-high 14 points.

Sewanee will close out its regular season with a 1:00 p.m. (EST) game at Berry, Sunday.
