Berry loses first home game of the season 72-65

ROME, Ga—The Berry College women's basketball team fell to Centre College, 72-65, on Friday night.  Berry's Emma Cook had 18 points and 10 rebounds to lead Berry.

Cook was 7-of-13 shooting. Chanlir Segarra and Mel McLean both had 11 points in the contest. Freshman Zarriah Pierce contributed 10 points for the home team.

Centre led at halftime, 29-21. For the game, the Colonels shot 53-percent (23-51) to Berry's 40-percent (23-58).

Centre led by 14 points with 12:21 remaining, before the Vikings rallied. A fast-break layup by McLean cut the score to 64-61 with 3:15 left, but BC got no closer.

Centre's Paige Kellam had a game-best of 25 points and was 11-13 from the field.  She also had two steals.

The Vikings  face Sewanee at the Cage Center at 1 p.m. on Feb. 22.
