STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - The Lehman College women's basketball team ended the regular season by falling to the College of Staten Island, 58-52, on Tuesday evening. The Lightning will enter the CUNY Athletic Conference Championships as the fourth seed, and will battle #5 Hunter, on Saturday, at 1:00 p.m., in the APEX Main Gym.

The Lightning (16-9, 10-6 CUNYAC) got off to a strong start, as junior guard Jennifer Navarro (Jamaica, N.Y./Grover Cleveland) tallied back-to-back field goals, including a three-pointer, to give the Lightning a 12-4 lead, just over six minutes into the game.

After CSI (15-10, 12-4 CUNYAC) pulled to within three, both teams went 7:38 without a field goal. The Dolphins ended their slump, and started to string together baskets to take a 22-15 lead, with 1:59 left to play in the opening half.

Junior forward Linda McKeon (Yonkers, N.Y./Moyne C.S.) scored Lehman's first field goal in just under 10 minutes, to cut the Lightning's deficit to five. Both teams went into the half, with Lehman trailing 24-19.

In the second half, the Dolphins were able to build an eight-point lead, 35-27, with 12:04 to go in regulation. Lehman would counter with a rally of its own, by going on a 12-0 run. Junior forward Karrin Walker (New York, N.Y./Richard R. Green) scored the last seven points of that run, capped off by a three-pointer to help Lehman jump out to a 39-35 lead, with 7:38 remaining.

After the Dolphins pulled to within one, Walker fed the ball to Navarro, who nailed a three-point basket to extend Lehman's lead to 42-38, with 6:55 to go.

From that point on, CSI took control for the remainder of the game, by scoring 20 of the game's final 30 points to hand Lehman a tough loss.

Walker tallied her 14th double-double of the season, by scoring 21 points and grabbing a career-high 22 rebounds. She also added three blocks. Navarro scored 19 points, while McKeon scored six and grabbed seven rebounds. Junior forward Amani Lightbourne (Elmsford, N.Y./Alexander Hamilton) dished out four assists.
