Arlington, Va. – The Marymount women's basketball team shocked No. 15 Salisbury on Wednesday night, downing the visiting Seagulls, 70-63.  The Saints improve to 16-8 on the season and 12-5 in league with the win.

Salisbury has only lost one other game in its 2014-15 season – a loss to then No. 8 Montclair State.

Kievanna Lacey paced the Marymount offense with 20 points on the night, while Leah Hurst and Kiki Laux chipped in 16 and 15 points, respectively.

On the boards, Samantha Kane collected ten rebounds for the Saints.

Marymount outshot Salisbury across the board, pouring in a stellar 44.4% (24-for-54) performance from the floor.

The first half saw CAC titan Salisbury jump out to the early lead, working its way up to a seven-point advantage, 18-11, by the 14:58.

The Saints reeled the Seagulls back in over the next four minutes, using a 7-0 run to eclipse the margin and knot the score at 18-18 with 10:52 left to play.

Marymount remained quite relevant for the remainder of the first half.  The Saints battled back from another six-point deficit to eventually swipe a brief two-point lead, 33-31, following a pair of Leah Hurst free throws with just 1:25 on the clock.

A triple at the buzzer saw the Seagulls swipe a one-point advantage, 34-33, heading into the break.

The second half saw the chess match continue, with neither team building a notable lead until Marymount banged out a quick 5-0 rally.  By the 9:07 mark, the Saints held seven points over Salisbury – 48-41.

The Seagulls fought back, closing the gap to just one, 59-58, with 3:27 showing.  A timely 6-1 Marymount rally gave the host a promising 65-59 lead heading into the final minute.

Salisbury would not come within five the rest of the way.

Marymount now sits in third place among the CAC standings.  The Saints square off with Frostburg State on Saturday in their final contest of the regular season.  Tip time is slated for 1 p.m. in Frostburg, Md.
