GENESEO, N.Y. – SUNY Geneseo senior forward Shannon McGinnis totaled 23 points and 15 rebounds for her 11th double-double of the season to lead the Knights over host Buffalo State, 76-50, in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) women's basketball, Tuesday night.

Junior guard Dana Cohan scored 11 points and handed out nine assists while junior forwardAllison McKenna added 16 points in the win.

"The difference tonight really came down to the effort and heart we had in the second half. We worked harder on the boards, we got back to who we are and the results coincided with that," said head coach Scott Hemer. "In the first half, we lacked a commitment to rebounding and weren't putting fourth a strong effort defensively."

Geneseo jumped out to an early 10-2 lead after Cohan hit a jumper with 16:22 on the clock. The Bengals (11-11, 8-7 SUNYAC) responded by going on a 9-2 run to cut the deficit to one, 12-11, at 14:08.

At the 10:49 mark, sophomore guard Bridgit Ryan made a jumper to match the Knights' largest lead of the half, 22-14. Just over four minutes later, Buffalo State senior guard Olivia Lucianidrained a shot from long-range to tie the game at 25.

At 4:37, Bengals' first-year guard Keynote Edwards converted a fast-break lay-up to give the hosts their first lead, 29-27, but it was Geneseo taking a 34-30 advantage into halftime.

The Knights opened the second half with a 13-0 run to build a 17-point lead, 47-30, with 15:42 on the clock. The run was capped by a three-pointer from sophomore guard Kara Houppert.

At 10:58, senior forward Lea Sobieraski made a lay-up to give Geneseo its largest lead of the game, 59-36. With 5:55 left to play, Buffalo State converted a free-throw to come within 11, 59-48, but the Knights scored the next 17 points to secure their 10th-straight victory.

Geneseo (16-4, 12-1 SUNYAC) returns to action this Friday (Feb. 13) to host New Paltz at 7:30 p.m. before welcoming Oneonta to town on Saturday for a 4 p.m. tip-off.
