The Baruch College Bearcats team won their 15th straight game and stayed undefeated in CUNYAC (15-0) following a 78-63 home win over the Dolphins of the College of Staten Island on Friday night in the ARC Arena.
The Bearcats (19-4) shot 45 percent (29-for-64) and dominated the boards with a 53-38 advantage to also stay undefeated in the calendar year of 2015.
Iyana Abramswas all over the stats sheet with 19 points, eight rebounds, six assists, and tied a career-high with nine steals.
Veronica Ganzitotaled 14 points and Francess Henryhad a double-double with 12 points and rebounds each. Vanessa Santanascored 10 points off the bench in the important home win.
Christina Pasaturo led the visiting Dolphins with a double-double of 21 points, 10 rebounds and three steals.
Prior to the game, the women's basketball program honored senior Sheridan Taylorfor scoring her 1,000th point and grabbing her 1,000th rebound in the same game earlier this week at CCNY.
Henry and Taylor this season became the 11th and 12 players in team history to score 1,000 points. Taylor joins three other all-time players in team history to 1,000 in both points and rebounds.
The two players posed for a special photo with former women's basketball coach and current Deputy Director of Athletics Machli Joseph and interim Head Coach KellyAnn Barrett.
The women's basketball team will next hit the road for a major showdown on Tuesday, February 17, at 5:00 pm against second place Brooklyn College (18-5, 13-1 CUNYAC).
The game will likely decide the conference regular season title and the top seed in the CUNYAC Championship Tournament that will begin on Saturday, February 21.
