MILWAUKEE -- A 66-65 setback spoiled Alverno College's Senior Night as visiting Rockford University came away with a victory in the Inferno's home finale Wednesday night in Reiman Gymnasium.

Trailing 66-63 with 15 seconds remaining the Inferno had a chance to tie the game, but Tessa Mersberger's 3-point attempt rolled in and out and Mollie Mikyska's two-point put back at the buzzer was all the home team could manage with the limited time left.

Mersberger made a 3-pointer at the four-minute mark to give Alverno (5-18, 3-15 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference) a 61-60 lead, its last of the game.

Mikyska shot 11-of-16 from the field for a game-high 25 points, and added 13 rebounds for her 10th double-double of the season.

Alyssa Mane scored a career-high 11 off the bench, while lone Inferno senior Jennifer Totten chipped in eight points, also her career best.

The Regents (6-17, 5-13 NACC) were led by Diamond Williams and Katie Clark's 18 points apiece.

Alverno outrebounded Rockford 38-33 and shot 48 percent compared to the visitors' 40 percent, but 24 Inferno turnovers led directly to 26 Regent points.

Next up for Alverno is a Friday contest at Concordia University Wisconsin. Tipoff is at 7 p.m. up in Mequon.
