Keene, N.H. – The Trinity College women's basketball team lost to Keene State, 66-46, in non-conference action at Spaulding Gymnasium on Tuesday evening. The Bantams dropped their third straight to move to 1-4 on the year heading into the Thanksgiving break, while the Owls won their home opener to improve 3-2 overall.

The first half was a game of runs as the visitors held a 6-1 lead on back-to-back layups by sophomore swing player Sheena Landy (Durham, Conn.) and junior forward Melanie Mills (Woodstock, Conn.). From that point, Keene State put together a 17-2 run to take an 18-8 lead with 10:49 remaining in the opening stanza. During that run, the Owls received scoring from six different players.

Trinity answered right back and rattled off eight straight points as Landy and senior forward Emily Kauls (North Oaks, Minn.) each made back-to-back buckets to pull the Bantams within two points.

Keene State would answer with another run to close out the first half as Lydia Vital's layup with 29 seconds remaining gave the Owls a 35-21 lead going into halftime.

In the second half, Keene State would extend their lead to as large as 23 points on two free throws by Ryanne Williams.

Three Owls scored in double figures as Christan Wojtas netted a game high 13 points, followed by Kelsey Santagata's 10 and Williams' 12 points off the bench. Kelsey Cognetta was efficient for the hosts as she totaled eight points, seven assists, four rebounds and three steals. Sarah Kober led the team in rebounds with nine.

For the Bantams, Landy led the way with 12 points, seven rebounds and three steals. Kauls grabbed a team-high eight rebounds off the bench to go with seven points, while senior forward Taylor Higgins (Merrick, N.Y.) recorded six points and four assists.

Keene State went 7-20 (35%) from behind the arc and 28-66 (42.4%) from the field and held a 40-35 edge in rebounds. The Owls defense shutdown the Bantams from three-point range as Trinity shot 0-8.

Trinity returns to action on Thursday, December 4, traveling to face in-state and conference rival Connecticut College in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) action. The tilt with the Camels is the conference opener for the Bantams and it gets underway at 7:00 p.m.
