MILWAUKEE -- A 14-0 run by Benedictine University broke open a tie game and host Alverno College was unable to recover in an 83-60 loss Thursday night inside Reiman Gymnasium.
Mollie Mikyska scored a career-high 26 points and hauled in a game-high 12 rebounds for her ninth double-double of the season in the loss. The sophomore center shot 8-of-16 from the field and an impressive 10-of-12 from the free-throw line.
Alyssa Mane added 10 points, Brooke McBain had nine points and eight rebounds, while Tessa Mersberger chipped in seven points and a game-high six assists.
The Inferno (5-16, 3-13 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference) shot just 34 percent from the field in the game, while the Eagles (14-7, 14-2 NACC) shot 52 percent -- including 47 percent from the 3-point arc.
Meghan Novak was one of four Eagles to score double-figures, leading the way with 17 points.
Alverno, still in contention for a NACC Tournament spot with four games to play, heads up to Lakeland College on Saturday for a 7 p.m. contest.
