Jenna Dockter scored 13 points to lead No. 3-ranked St. Thomas to a 60-37 win over Augsburg in Saturday's MIAC women's basketball play at Schoenecker Arena.

The Tommies (19-0 overall, 12-0 MIAC) became the first team (women or men) to secure one of the MIAC postseason playoff spots. The hold a three-game lead over second-place Bethel with six games to go in the MIAC race.

They helped limit the Auggies to just 10 field goals and 25 percent shooting from the field.

Maggie Weiers had 12 points; Anna Smith chipped in nine points, 12 rebounds, four blocks and three steals; and Katie Stone had five assists and three steals.

The Toms have held 12 of their last 13 opponents to 50 or less points.

Hannah Steinhaus and Bridget Bednar each scored nine points to lead Augsburg (10-9, 5-7).

St. Thomas led 13-0 before Augsburg answered with a 14-4 run to trim the lead to 17-14 with 8:09 to go in the first half. UST countered with an 18-5 run to extend the margin at halftime to 35-19.

UST had just 11 turnover and built a 40-30 rebounding advantage. Five different Toms made at least one 3-pointer.

The Tommies are home Wednesday to face third-place St. Mary's.
