BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Led by Emma Cook's career high 31 points, the Berry College women's basketball team extended their winning streak to six in a row as they defeated Birmingham-Southern College on Friday night, 80-60.

The win improved the Vikings to 13-3 overall and a perfect 5-0 in the Southern Athletic Association. The loss dropped the Panthers to 7-9 and 0-5.

The two teams battled back and forth for the lead throughout the first half; however, the Vikings were able to find the net from every part of the court and led at halftime, 38-33.

Cook was 12-15 shooting, as well as 7-8 from the free throw line. She also collected 11 rebounds in the win.

Two other Vikings posted double digits against the BSC Panthers: Chanlir Segarra and Valerie McLure. Segarra scored 20 points for the Vikings, making four of her five free throw shots. Segarra was also 8-16 shooting on the night. McLure added 11 points for BC, three of which came from her three free throw attempts. McLure was 4-5 shooting, and she also had seven rebounds in the win.

For the Panthers, Jasmynn Batts scored 10 points. Batts was 5-11 shooting.

The Vikings bested BSC in almost every offensive category, including field goal percentage (52.7 to 30.5) and free throws made (21-27 to 6-11).

"The importance of this victory for our team is in the way we won the game, said Berry Head Coach Stephanie Dunn.  "We didn't make many three point shots tonight, but were able to score against an aggressive defense. Emma established our game in the paint, and Chanlir played well on the perimeter. This is a very good conference win on the road."

BC will take on Millsaps College in their next game on Sunday, January 25, at Millsaps in Jackson, Mississippi.​ The game matches the SAA's two unbeaten teams.
