ROME, Ga. - - Led by Chanlir Segarra's season high 25 points, the Berry College women's basketball team beat Hendrix College, 81-70, at home on Friday night.

Mel McLean, senior, was just three points shy of scoring 1,000 total points for the Vikings going into the competition. She needed little time to reach the mark as she nailed a three-pointer just 1:19 into the contest.

"I'm so happy for Mel," said Berry Head Coach Stephanie Dunn. "She has such a contagious positive energy that adds to our team. As a local girl (Coosa HS) it was great to see her reach this milestone in front of her family and friends."

McLean scored 10 points in the win and collected 10 rebounds for the Vikings.

The win improved BC to 10-3 overall and a perfect 2-0 in the Southern Athletic Conference. The loss dropped Hendrix to 5-8 and 0-2.
