WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - The Bowdoin College women's basketball team continued to roll, handing 18th-ranked Williams its first home loss of the season on Friday, 59-50.

Winners of 11 straight games, the Polar Bears improve to 14-2 (3-0 NESCAC) after outscoring the Ephs 30-19 in the second half. Williams loses for the second time in their last three outings and fall to 13-3 (1-2 NESCAC).

Sara Binkhorst led Bowdoin with 18 points while Shannon Brady scored 16 and grabbed nine rebounds. Marle Curle also reached double figures with 12. Not a single Williams player reached double digits.

A back-and-forth contest saw Williams hold a slim 31-29 edge at halftime and extend their lead to as many as six points, 35-29, right out of the gate in the second period. Bowdoin replied with a big 9-0 run to take the lead, capped by a Curle hoop-and-harm, to give the visitors a 38-35 lead with under 14 minutes to go.

Bowdoin would never trail again, despite the hosts coming within a single point on several occasions and tying the game at 46 apiece with 7:13 remaining. The Polar Bear defense answered the call on every occasion and held Williams scoreless for the final 4:18 of the game. Bowdoin rolled off an 8-0 run over the final 1:46 to put the contest out of reach.

The Polar Bears sealed the victory at the free throw line, connecting on 14-15 for the game. Bowdoin held a 41-29 edge on the glass.

Bowdoin will return to action on Saturday when they travel to play at Hamilton at 3:00 p.m.
