CHICAGO, IL - The University of Rochester women's basketball team kicked off one of its toughest road trips of the season on the wrong side of a 78-51 decision on Friday night at the University of Chicago's Ratner Athletic Center.

Rochester (9-4, 1-1 UAA) was outrebounded by over 20 rebounds by the Maroons (7-6, 1-1 UAA) and that led to 23 second chance points for host Chicago.

The Yellowjackets also struggled finding their shooting touch and committed 20 turnovers.  UR was a combined18-57 from the floor which led to the teams season low 51 points.  Leading the Yellowjackets was freshman Alexandra Leslie who was the only UR player in double-figures with 13 points and six rebounds.  Classmate Lauren Deming chipped in nine points and five boards off the bench.

After Rochester got up 5-2 behind the inside play of Leslie, the Maroons then went on a 12-2 run to grab a 14-7 lead.  The Yellowjackets would trim the lead to two on a couple of occasions, but the Maroons would hold the lead for the remainder of the contest.

Chicago's Britta Nordstrom, Claire Devaney and Stephanie Anderson each made layups during a 10-0 rush for the Maroons to build a 34-22 lead with five minutes remaining in the half.  As a team, UC shot 53% from the floor in the first half, heading to the locker room with a 41-28 lead.

In the second half, Rochester only made nine field goals, en route to just 23 points.  Rochester was outrebounded 28-12 in the second 20 minutes and didn't sink a three point shot in five tries.

Leading Chicago was Nordstrom who had 16 points, 6 rebounds and 3 steals.  Anderson added 12 points, 8 boards and 3 steals off the bench while Elizabeth Nye added nine points for the Maroons.

Rochester's tough road trip continues with a trip to #4 Washington-St. Louis on Sunday.  The game is scheduled for a 3 pm (Eastern Time) tip-off, after the UR men's contest.
