Brooklyn College - 76, Farmingdale State - 44
Farmingdale, N.Y. - Brooklyn College earned a 76-44 road victory at Farmingdale State in non-conference women's basketball action tonight. The Bulldogs improved to 10-5 on the year, while the Rams fell to 6-8.
Trailing 8-4 in the opening minutes, Brooklyn used a 16-0 run to take a 20-8 lead with 12:21 left to play in the first half. The Bulldogs increased their advantage to 39-19 with less that three minutes remaining and freshman guard Chrissy Heyer (Brooklyn, N.Y.) hit back-to-back 3's to close the half and give Brooklyn a 45-19 lead at the break.
After the Bulldogs extended their lead to 60-29, Farmingdale State used a Nicole Gomez (Deer Park, N.Y.) layup and Marissa Monaco (Bohemia, N.Y.) 3-pointer to close within 26, 60-34. Brooklyn held their lead the remainder of the way as they earned the 76-44 non-conference win.
Gomez scored a team-high 10 points on 4-of-7 shooting, while Monaco had eight points and four rebounds. Sophomore guard Meghan Cleary (East Meadow, N.Y.) tallied five points and five boards and junior forward Aries Adams (Bronx, N.Y.) had a team-leading four steals for the Rams.
The Bulldogs were led by Hoyer who netted a game-high 22 points on 7-of 10 shooting, including 6-for-9 from behind the arc.
Farmingdale State next will host Mount Saint Vincent in a Skyline Conference game on Saturday, January 17th at 1:00 p.m.
