Rensselaer Improves to 4-1 in Liberty League

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – Senior Amanda Lynch (Middletown, NY) had a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds, and freshman Shaina Iton (Peekskill, NY) blocked nine shots to lead the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute women's basketball team to a 43-33 victory over Bard College in a Liberty League game on Tuesday night.

The Engineers improved to 8-6 overall, 4-1 in the Liberty League. Bard is 4-8, 0-4.

It was a defensive struggle from the start, as RPI held Bard to just 17 percent shooting from the field in the first half. The Engineers held an 18-12 lead at the break, led by eight points from Bailei Tetrault (Cohoes, NY).

RPI expanded it's lead early in the second half and was never threatened. Lynch also had three assists and a steal. Iton added eight points, 11 rebounds and two assists.

Bard got 13 points from Bianka Bell (Stamford, CT), and 11 points and 17 rebounds from Tytravia Riley (Miami, FL).

Up next for the Engineers are Liberty League contests at Clarkson and St. Lawrence this Friday and Saturday, respectively.
