Brooklyn, NY- The Women's Basketball team fell to the City College of New York Beavers 90-37 earlier tonight. The Beavers improve to 3-11 overall and 2-5 CUNYAC while the Cougars drop to 1-13 overall and 0-6 CUNYAC.
The Beavers led from the opening tip. The Cougars cut the lead to four, twice in the 1st five minutes of the game. City College went on a 15-0 run and put the game out of the reach. The Cougars shot 31.3% from the field, 25% from 3pt. range, and 42.9% from the free throw line.
In the loss, the Cougars were led by Sophomore Guard Ashley Desir with a game high 17pts (6-12 FG-FGA, 1-2 3pt. FG-FGA, and 4-4 FT-FTA). Ashley grabbed three rebounds, dished out three assists, and carouled two steals. Shakeada Wint and Kimonia Mullings led the team with six rebounds. City College was led by Tiara Brown with 14pts. Five other Beavers scored in double-figures including the following: Marissa Olsen (12pts), Robin Daley (11pts), Carol Yu (10pts), Karissa Core (10pts), and Liz Durchhalter (10pts).
The Cougars will be back in action on Wednesday January. 14, 2015, when they play the John Jay College Bloodhounds. Game time will be 6pm at Medgar Evers College.
