CAMBRIDGE, MA – Behind a game-high 23 points from rookie Hannah Cambel (Houston, TX/Westbury Christian), The College of New Rochelle ran past Lesley University, 74-46, this afternoon in a non-conference matchup.  With the win, the Blue Angels improve to 7-5 on the season.

Cambel matched her school record with seven three pointers, adding game-high five assists.  Jah-Leah Ellis (Harlem, NY/Hun School of Princeton) tallied a double-double with 22 points and a game-high 12 rebounds.

Jackie Ewing recorded nine points and seven rebounds in a balanced Lynx attack.

Cambel drained two triples in the game's opening minutes as CNR took an early lead they never relinquished, as Cambel connected on shot after shot to keep Lesley at bay in the opening stanza.  The Blue Angels closed out the half with a 12-3 to take a 42-29 lead into the break.  Ellis registered 16 points and seven rebounds in the first 20 minutes.

CNR put the game away in the second stanza, outscoring the Lynx 32-17 while holding Lesley to 6-23 (26.1%) shooting from the floor.

The Blue Angels won the battle of the boards, 41-24, and held a 20-6 advantage in points off turnovers and a 23-3 edge in scoring in the paint.

The College of New Rochelle will take the next eight days off before returning to action on Monday, January 19, traveling to Purchase, NY to take on the Purchase College Panthers in a non-conference game slated to begin at 7:00 PM.
