More news about: Brooklyn

Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College Bulldogs had their winning streak of six games snapped by the hottest team in the nation, the #1 ranked FDU-Florham Devils, who have now won 46 consecutive contests spanning two seasons.  Brooklyn falls to 8-4 on the year while the Devils improve to 13-0.

Brooklyn jumped out to an early 7-2 lead on the visitors, as five early poinst from Nicole Francomano and a layup from Megan Campbell gave BC the early advantage.

The teams traded baskets for a 9-4 Brooklyn lead, however the Devils would go on a 14-0 run to turn the table and take an 18-9 advantage of their own.

Consecutive baskets from Campbell and Vanessa D'Ambrosi stopped the bleeding and cut the defici to five, 18-13.  A D'Ambrosi 3-pointer with 9:40 to go in the half brought the deficit back to four, 22-18, but the Devils would answer once again with an 8-2 run, capped by a Kara Dayon three-pointer, to take the lead back to 10, 30-20,

A 13-9 run by Brooklyn cut the deficit back down to six, 39-33, with 2:18 to go, but the Bulldogs fell apart for the final two minutes of the half, allowing the visitors to close on a 10-0 run to extend the lead to 49-33 going into the half.

Brooklyn fought hard throughout the first eight minutes of the second half, chipping away at the deficit and getting within 10 points on a Nicole Francomano jumper with 11:58 to play.  After a Shalette Brown bucket extended it back to 12, D'Ambrosi followed with a bucket to bring it back to 10, but that's as close as they'd get as FDU would run away with the 22-point win.

"I was proud of our effort tonight," said coach Alex Lang, "However we didn't sustain throughout and allowed too many runs."

Campbell led all scorers with 20 points, while D'Ambrosi added 12 and Francomano chipped in with 11.

Brown led the Devils with 19 points and a game-high 20 rebounds.

Brooklyn will return to CUNYAC action on Saturday as they battle for first place with the only other undefeated team in the conference, Baruch.  Game time is slated for 1 pm.
