Big Blue Women Fall on Road

          The Millikin women's basketball team lost at #24 North Central College 95-75 on January 7 in Naperville, Illinois.  The Big Blue fall to 10-3, 1-1 while the Cardinals remain unbeaten at 13-0, 2-0.

          Millikin stayed close with the fast break run and shoot oriented Cardinals in the first half with North Central leading 45-40 at halftime.  North Central controlled the second half outscoring the Big Blue by 15.  North Central shot only 34 percent from the field, but took 98 shots on the game, which was 21 more than the Big Blue.  North Central shot 61 three-pointers making 15.  Millikin entered the game leading the NCAA Division III in field goal percentage, but the Big Blue struggled on the night hitting only 38 percent from the field.  Millikin was 0-3 from three point range.  North Central out rebounded Millikin 61-59.  North Central forced Millikin into 24 turnovers while only committing 12.

          Alyssa Saklak has another stellar night for Millikin with her second straight double double.  Saklak tied her career high in points with 28 and grabbed 11 rebounds.  Hannah Millington added 15 points and eight rebounds. 

          Tess Godhardt led the Cardinals with 22 points and 11 rebounds.  Jamie Cuny added 16 points and 12 rebounds.

          Millikin will host Elmhurst College on Saturday, Jan. 10 hosting Elmhurst College at 5 p.m.  Prior to the game, Millikin will celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the Big Blue 2005 NCAA Division III National Championship.
