Trinity Women's Basketball Finishes As Gwynedd Mercy Holiday Tournament Runner-Up

Gwynedd Valley, Pa. - The Trinity College Bantams finished as the Gwynedd Mercy Holiday Women's Basketball Tournament Runners-Up, suffering a 68-54 loss to the host Griffins this afternoon at Griffin Complex.  The Bantams, which downed Ramapo yesterday, 58-54, tio advance to today's final, fall to 306, while Gwynedd Merct improves to 5-6.

Griffin sophomore Charlotte Kucowski (Philadelphia, Pa.), the tournament MVP, scored the game's first five points to vault the Griffins to a 14-0 lead to start the contest and a 16-point halftime lead at 39-23.  Trinity attempted just six shots in the first five minutes, but broke its scoring drought on a layup by junior center Mackenzie Griffin (Stamford, Conn.) at the 14:16 mark.  Griffin had a team-high nine points at the break, while Aubree Udell (Chester, N.J.) and Christine Raiti (Plainview, N.Y.) hit late three-pointers to cut into what was a 25-point lead in the first half for Gwynedd Mercy.

Junior guard Alexa Menard (Wallingford, Conn. drained a corner three that was followed by a steal and an easy layup by Raiti, but Kucowski answered with two corner three-pointers to put Gwynedd Mercy back up by 19 at 47-28 and the Griffin lead remained at least 13 for the game's remainder.  Griffin finished with a double-double consisting of 17 points and 13 rebounds to go with a pair of blocked shots, while rookie Maggie Brown (Wilmington, Mass.) grabbed seven boards off the bench for the Bantams.  Griffin represented Trinity on the all-tournament team.
