(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) – The second-ranked Thomas More College women's basketball team forced 43 turnovers today (Saturday, January 03, 2015) to defeat Thiel College, 101-41, in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game at the Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.

With the win, the Saints improve to 10-0 overall and 3-0 in the PAC.  With the loss, the Tomcats fall to 1-9 overall and 0-4 in the PAC.

Thomas More used 10-straight turnovers by Thiel to race out to an early 15-0 lead when junior guard/forward Sydney Moss (St. Albans, W.Va./Boone County (Ky.)) made a lay-up with 15:41 to play in the first half.  The Saints then used a 7-2 run to extended the lead to 21-2 with 13:29 to play in the opening half when junior guard Olivia Huber (Woodlawn, Ky./Newport Central Catholic) made a lay-up.  Thiel answered with an 8-1 run to cut the lead to 10:44 when Hannah Stoneman made a lay-up.  Thomas More closed out the half on a 27-14 run to lead 49-24 at halftime when freshman guard Abby Owings (Independence, Ky./Simon Kenton) made a three-pointer with 19-seconds to play in the half.

The Saints continued to dominate in the second half as they out-scored Thiel 52-17 to cruise to the 101-41 win.  Thomas More out-scored the Tomcats 57-5 off turnovers and 46-8 in the paint.

Four Saints finished in double-figure scoring as Owings had a game-high 17 points, Moss and junior forward Alexa Santamaria (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) each had 11 points and sophomore guard Hannah Devine (Carrollton, Ky./Carroll County) finished with 10 points.  Junior forward Sam Cady (St. Anthony, Minn./St. Anthony Village) led the team on the boards with seven rebounds, while junior guard Sydni Wainscott (Erlanger, Ky./Simon Kenton) led the team in steals with eight.  Moss and Wainscott led the team in assists with four each.

Thomas More returns to action on Monday (January 5) when it travels to Grove City, Pennsylvania to play PAC foe Grove City College at 5:30 p.m.
