Toms cruise in second half, climb to 11-0

Jenna Dockter scored 14 points and Maggie Weiers added 13 points as No. 6-ranked St. Thomas recorded a 74-42 victory over Carleton in Saturday's MIAC women's basketball contest in Northfield.

The Tommies (11-0 overall, 4-0 MIAC) shot 51 percent from the field and had a 39-28 rebounding edge.

They helped limit the Knights to 16 second-half points. The Toms have now held eight of 11 opponents under 50 points this season as they lowered their season average to 46.8.

Anna Smith added nine points and 11 rebounds; Alyssa Favilla was 5-for-5 shooting from the floor for 10 points, all in the second half in only eight minutes of play; and Kaitlin Langer made four of five shots and closed with eight points and five boards.

UST raced to a 9-0 lead and Carleton never got closer than six points thereafter. St. Thomas led 35-26 at halftime before Weiers scored nine consecutive points to open the second half and extend the lead to 44-26 in the first 4:16 after the break. Weiers added four rebounds and four assists.

St. Thomas plays Wednesday at Macalester and returns home Jan. 10 to face Concordia-Moorhead.
