Staten Island, NY --- The Brooklyn College Women's Basketball team (7-3 overall/5-0 CUNYAC) remained perfect in City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) play as the Bulldogs began the New Year with a 66-59 triumph over the Dolphins of the College of Staten Island (5-8 overall/2-2 CUNYAC) on Saturday afternoon at the CSI Sports & Recreation Center.

Leading the way for BC was senior forward Megan Campbell who finished the day with 15 points and 16 rebounds, both game-highs, to record her fourth double-double of the season. Classmate guard/forward Vanessa D'Ambrosi added 14 points and eight rebounds, while senior guard/forward Nacirema Mann chipped in with 13 points and eight rebounds coming off the bench. Senior forward/center Asia Foster pulled down nine rebounds, while classmate Nicole Francomano dished out eight assists, to go with six points.

"It was great to get another league win against a good opponent in CSI," said Head Coach Alex Lang. "We looked a little rusty at times after a long break; however, we made some key plays when it counted. Our bench was huge today, especially Mann and Jaclyn Grasso (five points/four assists)."

CSI's Christina Passaturo was the lone Dolphin in double figures with 14 points, while Nikki Fabozzi finished with eight points and eight rebounds. Megan Myhre also added eight points.

The first half saw six ties and three lead changes combined between the two schools.  After a bucket from Pasaturo opened the scoring for the game, D'Ambrosi would answer with back-to-back three-pointers to give the visitors a 6-2 lead early in the game.

The Bulldogs would lead through much of the first half until the 8:51 mark of the period when a Alyssa Carlsen's layup game the home team a 15-13 lead. Trailing 17-15, Brooklyn would use a 13-1 run to take its largest lead of the game by 10, 28-18, with 3:03 remaining until the halftime buzzer. The Bulldogs never trail in the half again as the visitors would take a seven-point, 34-27, intermission lead.

The second half would once again see Brooklyn take a 10-point lead, 51-41, with 11 minutes left in the game. However, the Dolphins would not go down easily, as the home team would chip away at its deficit to eventually retake the lead at 57-56, with 4:50 remaining before the final horn. The lead would be short lived, as the Bulldogs would answer with nine straight points to take a 65-57 lead with just under a minute left, as the visitors would go on to take home the 66-59 victory.

For the game, Brooklyn shot 34.8% (23-for-66) from the field, including 27.8% (5-for-18) from three. The Bulldogs struggled from the line shooting just 51.7% (15-for-29) from the charity stripe.

CSI similarly struggled offensively, as the Dolphins shot 33.9% (21-for-62) from the field, including 25.0% (6-for-24) from beyond the arc. Staten Island also shot 64.7% (11-for-17) from the free throw line.

The Bulldogs controlled the glass, out-rebounding the Dolphins 56-37, which led to an 18-4 advantage in second chance points for BC.

Brooklyn will look to continue its solid play in conference action, as the Bulldogs will welcome the Cardinals of York College on January 6th. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:00 pm.
