The Saint Vincent women's basketball team completed its two-day sweep in the Music City Classic in Nashville, TN with a 79-41 victory over Curry College.

Despite Curry's size in the frontcourt, the Bearcats went right to work in the paint, building a 13-4 lead in the first four minutes, with Taylor Mathers scoring 10.  Only a Hannah Carroll three-pointer came from outside the key.

Up 18-10, SVC's Jill Kegg hit a three to make it 21-10.  After a Curry score cut the gap to nine, Brittany Beckwith started a 16-0 run for the Bearcats.  The team then went to the outside shooters, connecting on four straight shots from outside the arc, with two from Jasmine Weems and one each from Kegg and Jessica WelchAlly Schmidt then hit a jumper to complete the run at the 8:07 mark of the first half, making the score 37-12.

After a three from the Colonels, Mara Benvenuti continued the solid three-point shooting for the Bearcats, then Mathers scored her sixth field goal of the half to make the score 42-15, and the team cruised into the locker room up 47-17.

The second half started much like the first, with Mathers scoring four quick points in the opening minute, followed by a three from Carroll, making the score 54-17.

Later, Shalia Williams and Kiara Arnold scored on back-to-back possessions, running the lead to 58-22 at the 13:30 mark.

SVC continued to play strong defense, with Mara Benvenuti coming up with a pair of steals and breakaway scores that helped push the lead to 72-36 with just under six minutes remaining.

Mathers led all scorers with 18 points, while Kegg added 11 and had a game-high 8 rebounds. Ally Schmidt added 7 rebounds and 6 points, while Weems had 8 points and 6 rebounds.

Saint Vincent is now 9-1 overall on the season and will return to action on Saturday at Westminster in Presidents' Athletic Conference play.
